Great Dorset Steam Fair 2017
« on: August 30, 2017, 09:07:17 AM »
Hello,

this year my Dad and I visit the Great Dorset Steam Fair.

My father was there 25 years ago. A lot has changed, he says.
I liked it very much, I did not expect so much.

Regards Toby

In the second and third pictures, there seems to be a line of sheep wagons on the right hand side. Did you have a look at them? Were they for accommodation or just nicely restored and on display? They look lovely.

Hello,

the wagons were on the exhibitor camping.
They served as exhibitors and exhibitors.
I think the exhibitors brought this by themselves.

Here are some of my favorite wagons  :)

I have not seen so much steam tractors before.
The showmen liked me the best.
Unfortunately, the 4 "machines for me are priceless.  :-[

Thanks for putting up the photo selection Toby, love the two 6" engines, especially the Fowler.   Need a bit more equipment than the trusty Myford to start tackling that, though...!    Dave

The wagons are referred to as" Living vans" The contractors who worked the engines would have lived on site going where the work took them. A good number of the Dorset engines are driven to the event and often tow the living van too as both an exhibit and somewhere for the crew to brew up.

Thanks for the photos Toby.
