Threading with an AL320G Lathe
« on: September 23, 2012, 10:55:00 AM »
Hi Guys,

I know I'm not the only one who has this lathe. There have been a couple of discussions about threading using this lathe. The manual I received when I bought it had the original change wheel chart over written with a pasted insert. I have never been happy with the change gear combinations as supplied, ( not the gears themselves but what goes where to give various metric and imperial threads.

Today seemed to be the day to do something about it, so I did  :insane:

Attached is a spreadsheet which gives the best gear ratios using the as supplied gear set for both metric and imperial threads. I hope my fellow owners find it useful. My lathe has a 3mm pitch leadscrew, so the ratios are based on that pitch.

Best Regards
Bob

Edit: Found some improvements on my improvements so attached is an updated Excel file.
