Hello from Windermere UK
« on: July 21, 2017, 03:26:22 PM »
Hello All,
My name's Jon Gibbs from Windermere in UK.

I've been tinkering for a while now on model-engineer.co.uk but recently saw that there's lots of good content here too.

My workshop is single garage size with an ML7, a RF-25 round column mill and a little Warco horizontal bandsaw, for metalworking, along with two Jet wood lathes (1642 and a 1014 mini), a 16" vertical wood bandsaw, mitre saw and a couple of bench grinders - one dedicated to woodturning. Not much room to swing a cat but it's my own space!

I started metal bashing to support the woodturning but it's now taken over as a major activity on its own. I have fun making as much as possible and I've just finished HH's (metaler) fixed and travelling steadies for the lathe. These were a pre-cursor to the current project which is HH's advanced grinding rest and end-mill sharpening fixtures which I'm half way through now - Just starting the dovetail slides, having worked up from the ground to that point!

Anyway - really looking forward to following what's going on around here.
Jon

:hi: Jon,

Hopefully we will be able to entice you into making yourself a model engine after you finish your tools  :)

Very many thanks to you all for the marvelous welcome.

I'll try and organize some photos when I get chance.

I have some on Photobucket already but I hope you'll forgive me for not paying the necessary cash to make them visible. Has anyone got a good suggestion for a free alternative?

Many thanks again
Jon
