My basement Dungen !!
« on: September 03, 2012, 04:23:03 AM »
Here is where I get away and some machining. Small machines to make anything I want to within limits !!! The black mats are a birthday gift from the wife...10 year guarantee...with COWS standing on them...should be there when I'm gone !!! Makes standing much easier. I also have a hor/ vert bandsaw out of the way when not in use. I've only been acquiring machine tools since Nov 2011. Still modding and playing some and making some parts. Want things better than they came...like the rest of you who have these types of machines. Currently lathe apart for tapered Gib mod. I'm learning and getting better everyday !!
  Thanx for looking...V 45

Nice setup. I work/live in the basement too.
(Just a side note...if you haven't, keep a fire extinguisher near the stairs.)

I recall you saying you started machining last November.
What got you into it?

How do you like that mill?

I got into turning awhile ago (yrs) with a small unimat.  I didn't use it very much. Once I retired from the service I went to work part time in my buddies machine shop. Just making little parts for him. Then found a job in my feild and still wanted to learn about maching so I started to collect my own for what would fit in my house where I had the space. The garage will never turn into a machine shop for me...too many bikes in there. I enjoy it very much but soo many things I don't understand yet. But with the help on here and my friends it works out somehow !! The mill I like a lot better since I added the mini DRO's on it. Much better !!
Thanx again, Dave (V 45)
