In our RC submarine group, they still call any surface boats 'targets' rather than tugboat, cruiser, whatever.

And then there is this old favorite:

 Ship:  Please divert your course 0.5 degrees to the south to avoid a collision.

CND reply:  Recommend you divert your course 15 degrees to the South to avoid a collision.

 Ship: This is the Captain of a US Navy Ship. I say again, divert your course.

 CND reply:  No. I say again, you divert YOUR course!

 Ship:   THIS IS THE AIRCRAFT CARRIER USS CORAL SEA*, WE ARE A LARGE WARSHIP OF THE US NAVY. DIVERT YOUR COURSE NOW!!

 CND reply: This is a lighthouse. Your call.

When i was in the army i went to the stores and asked for a 6 inch extension and 5/8th whit worth socket, He went round the back and came back and said Sorry i've only got a 12 inch extension bar ...so i said ok can i have a 12" extension bar a 5/8 whit socket and a hacksaw !!  he then returned to the back and i exited smartly before he came back ,much to the amusement of the other people in the queue !! a true story !!
