If anybody finds me buying big castings then shoot me, I'm only making things I can pick up now

Jonathan

Just make sure you don't drive there in a Forklift then!

Never mind Mr. Rusty  .. What is it ???  :headscratch: Don't keep us in the dark.

Anyway, nowt amiss that a quick waft over in a shot-blaster wouldn't fix ...

I like his Power Strip. Offered several 8-gang 13A a few years ago but they were  for vertical fitting.   :(  Nearly new too.

It is Rocking Horse do-dars = a Stuart 600. Last cast before WW2, never to be done again  :disappointed: He also has the matching set of castings for the 800  :cussing:

That is a test equipment power rail supply. They come available at work each time we dispose of another piece of kit...  ;)

Jo

P.S. He does not have a Sandhurst  ::)

By the time Jo had spent considerable time fondling them instead of machining them either the gold plating or the iron oxide coating will have worn off and pristine surgical cleanliness metal will be left.  :D ;D

Wow! Hefty brute ...  :)

Why are the ends of the rocker shaft split pin not turned over ??  :headscratch:

Looks like one of my sort of 'disasters in waiting'   ;D

Ah.... The mighty 600....

I own a partially built twin flywheel one that I picked up in the early 80's, really nice engine.

Allegedly modelled on a National Gas engine that drove the Stuart Turner works.

The Sandhurst was IMO grossly under flywheeled for it's bore and stroke, twin flywheels made them much tamer in running.

An old " buff " once told me that the Sandhurst had hidden complications and was designed for students at the Royal Military Academy? True? Any thoughts?

Kind regards, Graham.

Kind regards, Graham.

I thought you would like that one Graham, none of those new fangled spark plugs there.

As you are about I will put a photo of the scabby casting on the castings thread, would be interested to know your thoughts on what caused it.

J

PS did you see that PM I sent last Sunday?

He has never expressed a desire for one: Like you he has a fetish for large model engines  ::). It is me who is happy to do the little ones or to make them at their original scale.
