As the title says- mostly 3D-printed, even the waxes for the brass investment castings (including the authentic Hicks propeller)... but with some simple traditional machining too.
Non-firing, but has electric drive for slow-running animation- have to show all the monkey-motion working!
These 8HP engines were widely used in San Francisco's fleet of small fishing boats known as Monterey Clippers. The design of those boats is carried over into the display stand. Actual Hicks drawings were used for all components; these can be found in the SF Maritime Historic Park research center.
Sound in the video is as-captured by the camera, but is generated by a sound player in the base, which in turn is playing a recording of an actual running Hicks.
