Hello, everyboby.
I began a first micro electric V8 half a year ago but i couldn't give it life. Home made coils were too weak to create movement.
Fail is the best seed to future victory. So, i started another study for another electric V8, using cheap chinese push-pull 6VDC mini linear solenoids. I just had to design and build mechanical devices turning around as simple as possible to keep a chance to make it run.
My choice to get a good reliability :
-8 classic mini linear solenoids (that work, this time
).
-Compound cross crankshaft turning on 5 ball bearings. Easy to machine and to make it turning free.
-4 stroke cycle cause i WANT a 4 stroke engine !!!
-Direct driven coils via 1 micro-switch each. MS is protected with a capacitor and a diode on each coil.
-Side placed camshaft and one cam for each MS.
-Gas lever slides MS pack on position to touch cams and automatically starts the engine since there is always one coil activated through the whole cycle.
In fact, though solenoids are made to eat 6VDC, it starts and runs on a nice sounded low RPM on only 5VDC.
And a video to see it living its live :
