Toby from Germany
« on: April 13, 2017, 01:36:35 AM »
Hello,

I am Toby from Germany and I am 42 Years old.

Since 25 years I flye RC planes and helikopter.

5 years ago I get the "old" CNC Milling Maschine from my father.
Dimension 400x300mm.
At this time I build my own planes.

My father build since 25 years steam engines, a 1/4 scale Clayton steam wagon
and last year his first hit and miss engine.

Now we will build a IHC Famous in 1/3 scale.
The plans are from the Onder Stoom in Nederlands.

Last year I build my new CNC Milling Machine with 1200x660 mm dimensions.
With it I build my first alloy parts, some Generator parts and Typeplate.

Regards Toby

Welcome to MEM (Model Engine Maker) forum Toby.  :hi: You'll find this is a great place to hang out.

Great pictures...............we love pictures.  I hope you'll consider doing a build thread of your 1/3 scale IHC Famous.

Also, when you get a chance,  some pictures of your shop would be great to see over in the "My Workshop" area.

 :hi: Toby,

Do you have any pictures of what the IHC Famous will look like?

You say "we are building" do you mean both of you are building one engine or are you building one each  :naughty:

Hi Toby,

Welcome to the group.  As you can see, we are a diverse mob, coming from all over.

Beautiful work in your pictures, I am looking forward to seeing your next build.

I will be interested to see where in particular you come from, city or nearest city would be enough.  I have visited Germany a few times in my working life, so always interested to know where people come from.

Hello all,

thank you for "welcomming".

Since 20 years I live near Osnabrück, before I live in Dortmund, where my parents stil live.

I say, last year my father build his first "Hit and Miss".
The real, I mean is, he build one for me, I got it last November as birthday present.
He also build one for him self, and another one, if one of the first don't run.  :D
Here are many pictures of building.
http://www.hajo-te.de/hit_and_miss_motor.htm

I think, we will build two IHC's, one for each.
Perhaps I am going to build two fuel tanks, one standard and one for the pumping version I've draw in 3D CAD.
First picture show the IHC I've seen in Loon van Zand, build by Henk Kaan.
Second picture show the "Prototype" build by Johan van Zand.
In the Nederlands there is a magazine named "Onder Stoom".
This released plans in 12 parts and now a special with all parts together.

Greetings Toby

Welcome to the forum, Toby.

It looks like you are building a very detailed and finely finished engine.

I would like to see more of your own and your father's work.

Hello Toby welcome to MEM. I live in UK quite near the old factory in Dursley Gloucestershire where Listers made their range of engines. I was therefore interested to see the photo of the engine you showed- this was fitted with a name plate saying Listers and Dursley. As far as i know Listers only made vertical engines some with open hoppers. The only time they had any dealings with horizontal twin flywheel open hopper engines was before 1909 when they linked up with the USA company Stovers. I would be interested to know how it came about that the model engine carries the Lister Dursley plate.
Many thanks
Trevorc

Hello Trevorc,

the "Lister" is build of this plans.

http://www.modelbouwtekeningen.nl/nvm-6010005-watergekoelde-4-tact-motor-175-cc-vrij.html

Sometimes it's called "Lister", somtimes "Petter & Co.".

https://i03909.wixsite.com/mijnsite-1/mijn-modellen

http://stoomwerkplaats.blogspot.de/p/4-takt-motoren.html

I think it's just a model. It has nothing to do with an original.

Unfortunately, I can not find any original engines.

Toby
