Flight Magazine from the beginning
« on: March 19, 2017, 07:07:33 PM »
For those of you budding Aero engine modelling enthusiasts I just chanced upon a gold mine  :whoohoo:

Looking for some pretty pictures of desirable aircraft engines that could be made into castings  :embarassed: I did a search for the ABC series of engines and chanced upon a link to all of the Flight magazines. Starting from 1909 and page 1 for their first magazine:

https://www.flightglobal.com/FlightPDFArchive/1909/1909%20-%200001.PDF

You can go through page by page all of the early mags which of course have some highly desirable Aero engines that are just crying out to have models made of them :cartwheel:

So if like me you wanted an ABC Scorpion it was published in 1924 on page 441: https://www.flightglobal.com/FlightPDFArchive/1924/1924%20-%200441.PDF

And they even provide a search facility: https://www.flightglobal.com/pdfarchive/   :drinking-41:

So you want to melt down a desirable engine and use the metal for castings?   ::) :hammerbash:

That was what they did during the second war: the only place you could acquire aluminium from to make model engines was crashed aircraft  ::)
