No they never stay tight, marr up the parts, strip out and generally suck level.....   8)

Sorry for the confusion - not helped by my typo in my last post that I've just corrected.

To clarify (I hope!). In your drawing in message #12 the left hand edge of the 1/8 tool bit is at right angles to the lathe axis. I would have thought you would need it angled over slightly to give clearance - evidently not because it obviously works.

Thanks for sharing because a ball turning attachment is on the 'to do' list for my lathe.
