Jim's MEM Corliss
« on: February 07, 2017, 04:20:58 PM »
Below are a couple of pictures of my completed MEM Corliss.
Thanks to the MEM Moderators for the design and to Arnold Bosch and Vince Cutajar for their build logs from which I took a few pointers.
I found it an interesting model to build and it turned out to be a beautifully smooth slow runner, highly recommended for anyone looking for a non scale challenge.
I actually had it running a couple of months ago but put off completing it because some woodwork was required  (not my favourite).

That is a great looking engine, Jim. I really like how you have it mounted and piped. Nice clean look.

Do you think you might post a video of it running?

Thanks for the kind comment.
The video thing is another battle in the ongoing war between me and technology!  I have a video in MP4 format but it's way too big to post direct to MEM.  I opened a Photobucket account and tried to upload my vid but gave up after 40 minutes watching a circle of dots going round (strangely, yelling at the monitor didn't help as much as it usually does).  I will try again and see if I can get it posted.

A lot of folks, including myself, use YouTube for videos. It seems like I had the same problem uploading video to Photo Bucket.

I've determine over the years, with computers, that there's a good reason they call that little arrow that you move around a "cursor"!  :atcomputer:  :wallbang:

Nice job Jim.  The engine looks great.

Ditto on YouTube for posting videos.  I've had stuff on it for years without a single problem.

With a modicum of luck and a great deal of "click & hope" I seem to have a YouTube channel.

<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AZ7gfLD7ezg" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AZ7gfLD7ezg</a>

The exagerated "chuffing" sound is caused I think by the exhaust venting into the large amplifying chamber formed by the hollow base.

Simply beautiful Jim. I guess I missed your post on this yesterday. Very smooth and as much detail on the base and piping as on the engine itself.  Really well done!!
