New home and workshop.
« on: October 28, 2017, 05:44:04 PM »
We have moved to our new address.
Have been busy outside and have made some stair’s in the shed to ceiling and will make now a inside wall to have a garage side and a separate workshop.
Have also bought a bigger furnish for melting.
Al complete with three new A8 crucibles and some used one’s.
It has a hoisting and side way moving crane.
So enough to do before I can go building again.

The workshop is to take shape
Have to pore some concrete for the lath and mill foundation.
Have also installed a pellet stove for heating so the concrete can harden, it’s outside only 5°C and very wet.
So the heating is very welcome.

Have also made a good by deal on a boring kit.
This guy asked only € 50,00.

Hi Tjark

Nice workshop.

Has the guy got any more boring kits at that price?

The workshop is starting to take shape, as you say.  The stove makes it look so cozy!
And I love the Boring set.  Looks top notch!

Thanks for the progress report!

Hello Bill, the furnace is not really that big.
It’s the outside pipe that was available that determent the furnace diameter (90cm in diameter outside).
The A8 crucible has a capacity of 1.7 liters.
There is room for a much bigger crucible I will never use I think.
It has so much heat resisted concrete that it insulation is incredible.
The guy I got it from was a hobby caster who helped some artists in the region with their bronze castings.
This man got a lot of physical complaints so he decided to sell his complete casting tools.
I was the first to get in contact with him and he invited me to come to his home and talk about it.
We talked at the same frequency and  so the deal was made, I had only to pay for the hoisting crane and electric trolley.
Also for some crucibles, but those where new so no problem.
All the rest was free of charge.
And when I have the furnace rebuild he will help me to make bronze castings.
I see forward to this day.
There are always tricks to be learned, I had to invent almost everything by myself in aluminum casting and took me almost ten years.
So I know all help is welcome.

Mike , the boring kit was really cheap.
The guy I bought it from had everything for seal he could it hands on.
He did not know the uses for this kit.
So I got lucky.

When I can get a day off next Saturday I will pour the foundation for the lath.

Made some progress in the shop.
Now busy with the electrics and have to sort out where to place the computer for the readout on the mill.
Also the water and drain connection for the washbasin.

Excellent work space.
I am always amazed when i go back home at the small space it takes for stairs in NL :-) A bit tricky going down in the morning if you aren't fully awake but they waste no space.
