5C collet chuck on mini lathe !!
« on: September 11, 2012, 01:27:17 AM »
Here is a pic of my 5C collet chuck. It is a 4" Bison chuck. I know there are a lot that think the 5C is too big for a mini lathe. It's about the same bulkiness as a 4" 4 jaw chuck. I like the way it works and I scored about 62 hardinge 5C collets for almost nothing at a auction. Great buy !! I used a LMS back plate and turned down to the inside diameter to just a light press fit of the back of the chuck. Runout is right at .0005" !!

Never assume the implied task has been completed !!

:pinkelephant: I just ordered my 5C, 5 inch chuck from LMS. I had purchased a pre threaded face plate from RGD tools to machine as a backplate for my myford. I been selling stuff on Ebay I don't use any more for my funding to pay for it, it goes into my Paypal account.
