Hi Rich,
 Looking good!

Your wingnuts are just what I need, except mine will be wing bolts! They will replace the wing bolts I use to hold my tram in its transport frame & which are hard on the fingers, thanks!!

Cheers Kerrin

Hi

Thanks cnr6400, Kim and Kerrin

Some more little jobs done today

Both rear cab supports and brackets fitted

Some fire clay in the smokebox to seal the gaps

2 of the screws around the smoke box have been removed, 1 each side, and the holes drilled and tapped right through to attach the smoke box to the front of the boiler with a couple of longer screws. A couple of small screws is all thats needed

The brake stand bolts through the running board.

It didn't seem sturdy enough so I have made a stiffening bracket from a piece of steel angle

finally today I have given the cab and the side tanks a quick spray to tidy up a few scratches

Cheers

Rich

Hi

Slightly off topic but I thought I would show you my 7 year old grand daughters loco. She has been working on it (with a bit of help here and there) for about 4 months now. So far she is showing a great interest in it and knows that it will take time to complete.

Not too sure about the hydraulic test though

Her engine gets my         salute! It looks great. Really like the fire door.

(might be wise to go easy on the water during the hydro test!)

Great to get kids interested in workshop activity early, I think. My two little nieces like to make something in my shop when they visit. The older one did a nice necklace stand all in steel last year, from odd scraps, and did  a nice spray can paint job.  Very proud of her efforts. The younger one loves to saw up styrofoam sheet and make assemblies with the bits with glue and nails. They both like to do 3D prints on the Ender 3.

I love it!  Yes, I love it when kids take an interest in building things.  She's done a marvelous job!  I love the fire door AND the smokebox door.  Great details!  :D

Hi

I have made some thumb nuts for the rear cab supports. Knurl some stainless steel bar, drill and tap M3

The cab is completely removable without the use of any tools.

The brakes are now all connected and working.

Cheers

Hi

There is enough room on the right side of the cab for a coal bunker.

Firstly draw and print out a template and spray glue to some brass sheet.

Cut out on the bandsaw

Fold up using a folder and a block of ally in the vise

Silver solder the corners. Solder on 2 stands. I also soldered on a brass boss (not shown in the photos) drilled and tapped M6

A stainless steel M6 stud is screwed into the brass boss. A 6mm hole drilled in the running board. Keeping up with the no tools required theme a wing nut from stainless steel holds the coal bunker in place

Cheers

Rich

Hi

Thanks Kim

Yes its geting there. I want to get the whole thing done and finished before I take it to our club for the second Hydraulic test. If all is well with that I can do the steam test on the same day. If that passes then maybe I can take it for a run around the track.

Cheers

I'm very much looking forward to the video.

Hi

Thanks Carl

A couple of couplings. All made from 5/8'' X 3/16'' steel bar

Note in the last photo there is room for the weld

Mig weld together

Clean up in the mill

Drill a hole for the pin

The finished couplings

Mounted on the front beam with 2 M5 bolts

Cheers

Rich
