Hi

Thanks Steamer and Steve

Some slow progress today.

Starting with some fine fettling to make sure the straps turn freely on the eccentrics

A trial assembly minus the wheel and crank. Some slight tweaking of the eccentric rods to re align them. I have marked them all with an engraver pen

Finally today refit the wheel and quarter the crank

Cheers

Hi

Thanks cnr6400, Roger and Kim

The modified eccentrics make adjustment so much easier. I had a go at setting the valves today but found one or two more places where things are just fouling, the fork on the expansion links for one which just prevents it turning freely so some more stripping and fettling ::)

But we are getting there  :)

Cheers

Hi

Slightly out of order but made a pin for the reverse lever. Its a press fit in the stand

Took the expansion links to bits to fettle them and made a mess of one of them so had to make another ::)

Also I have removed the lock nut on the valve rod, it was very close to fouling the guide bush. You can see on the plans that he has specified a pin to hold it together (indicated by the arrow in pencil) which would have been almost impossible to fit in position which is why I went for a threaded rod. The threaded rod has now been fixed in position with loctite.

A bit of video

Hi

Thanks cnr6400, Steve and Kim

A question

In the text Martin evans reccomends Shell Vitrea oil for lubricating the moving parts but he doesn't mention which grade??

A quick google shows grades from 27 upto 320 but bearing in mind the article was published in 1980 the oil probably doesn't exist now.

What type/grade of oil should I use

Cheers

Rich
