Hi

Thanks everyone

Your support has been invaluable, I doubt I would be this far without the help I have been given

I'm obviously very pleased to see it run, IT LIVES  :whoohoo:

A small set back though, I tried it in reverse and it doesn't want to run  :headscratch: so I am assuming its a valve timing problem still

Cheers

Rich

Hi

Thanks Per

Running the loco on the lift isn't too stable, its not what it was designed for. Also the wheels are hanging.

I have had it in mind for some time that a rolling road would be better and the loco would sit with weight on its wheels.

So a few scribblings were made. I have made it adjustable to suit different wheel bases and also long enough to accomodate my 0-6-0 Simplex. 4 more bearings will be fitted when I get some so that 5" gauge and 3 1/2" gauge will fit.

The following photos and videos should show how I made it but if you need any further info just shout up

Its made mostly from aluminium

Being tested with a 3 1/2" gauge Juliet

That looks great Rich. It will be a handy tool for many years and many locomotives I imagine!

Now about the bolts on one side - you're not thinking of going up-gauge, are you???? :mischief:

Remember - the difference between 3 1/2" gauge and 7 1/2" (or 10 1/4")  gauge is a small number of inches but a big number of dollars! (pounds)  :paranoia:

Hi

I'm afraid I'm a sucker for bargains on ebay  :atcomputer:   :facepalm2: :help:

Waiting in the wings are 3 1/2" gauge Juliet and Tich and Rainhill. Then there is the 5" gauge Simplex and Chub

 :facepalm: ::)

Cheers

Hi

Stripped the valve chest covers off again  ::) and checked the valve movement. I can see something is not quite right.

I think where I have made a mistake is turning the wheels in the wrong direction. With the loco the right way up turning the wheels forward is obvious but when I flip it over to gain access to the eccentrics (which is easy when its mounted in its lift) the wheels have to be turned in the opposite direction for forward movement

I have removed each cap and drilled a hole for access to the grub screws

I have marked the wheels with a marker pen to show forward rotation

Cheers

Rich
