Nice! What have you used to blacken it?

Nothing! Must be just the pic, it's been sandblasted then finished with Renwax to stop it rusting.

That would explain it ;).

I have a chemical blackening kit and too often the finish is too dark. Getting an even finish with bluing is a bit hit and miss. The wax and a camera could make it look that lovely shade.

You've done a lovely job of it - makes my effort look pretty crude.

Thanks. It's not exactly as planned as I had to work around the fasteners I had to hand but there's no slop in it like the import ones!

Nice. Can you elaborate on the axle bolts the knurling wheels ride on? Are they socket shoulder bolts like these or hollow axles with a bolt? Seems a lot smarter than this Eagle Rock knurler I have. Itknurls fine enough but I find removing the wheels a painful excercise... which is why 95% of my knurls are teh same pattern! The dowel pin type axles are pressed in very tight, so I end upusing makeshift press tools cranked in vice jaws.

I used shoulder screws as in your first picture Peter. Only takes a minute to swap Knurls.  :naughty:
