New DTI gauge good for centering on mill
« on: November 01, 2016, 12:12:56 PM »
I've just bought a new DTI by Dasqua from Chronos in the UK which has twice the normal range of reading and is now 1.6mm
but what got my attention was the fact that the top support pivots so I realised you could tilt the body out to get
a larger radius when trying to centre a work piece.
I hope the pictures explain this.
I still haven't worked out why the scale goes to 40 and then back again, perhaps some here knows.

Geoff, if you set the dial to zero and then pull the contact point towards you the pointer should move clockwise within the 0-40 range. If on the other hand the contact point is pushed backwards (away from the dial) the pointer should move counter-clockwise. Its just a plus or minus thing.

My guess would be the manufacturers also do an imperial one and all they do is change the card behind the face for the imperial version ::)
