GWR Armstrong Class Loco
« on: November 15, 2023, 12:29:22 PM »
The model is of a GWR Armstrong Class engine circa 1894, designed by William Dean. The loco is entirely scratch built using a CNC milling machine to cut all the parts, the scale is G3 (2.5in)
The wheels are cut from 8mm ali, the frames are 1.5mm steel all the rest is made from brass sheet, the engine has R/C and sound, batteries and electronics are housed in the tender.

Beauty!  I've always liked those large-wheel engines, they remind me of sidewheeler boats.

Another superb model in the collection of interesting locomotives that you have created, and a very lovely prototype engine of course.  I have been hugely impressed by the skill and the quantity of intricate work that is comprised in making these fine models.  Dave

Thanks for the kind comments, G3 has to be the most rewarding scale, large enough to feel real without breaking your back lifting heavy locos
