MIG Welder for under $100.00
« on: July 19, 2016, 03:01:44 PM »
I just pickup  a MIG welding that cost less than $100.00 including shipping
Works good the only draw back is it does need a 20 amp 110 volt by it self
........I just used my garage door opener with heavy cord. Work great
It uses Tweco type mig tips too

Note the best setting a have found that does not trip the house breaker is
Max 1 note my house voltage is 122 volts and the voltage on the welder is 110 volt
The OC voltage at this setting is 36 volts

The OC voltages at 122 volts is
 MIN 1 = 30 volts
 MIN 2 = 33 volts
 Max 1 = 36 volts
 Max 2 = 40 volts

 Hope this help some one

I must be honest I have never found a need to use a mig welder to make any of my engines. Could you show us some picture of your use of this mig welder in building your own model engines, so that we can understand how it could be useful to us  :)

You are just not making the right type of engines Jo :LittleDevil:

Funny enough I've had the stick welder out tonight making one of my engines :)

To say to less is one will need tooling and frames that needs to welded
I have also see crank shafts welded just any part of engine can be welded
The best of this is at one this was all done with stick welding witch was the lowest cost
To at the price of mig (new $ 93.00)welding makes the stick (new $300.00 or more)more costly to buy
Note if you buy to small of stick welder it just does not work for welding. This why I purchase a mig welder.  I also have background in welding and know what works and does not work

I hope this helps you

My Mig Welder is sat down in the stable rusting, I have not used it for over 20 years. I have been known to use my stick welder twice in that time.  The plasma cutter has had more use than either.

I wouldn't have chosen to use either welders on my model crankshafts I would use silver solder. But if you can show us some picture of how you use your mig welder on your model crankshafts that would be instructive for us  :)

I have a  gas less wire feed welder  built a stack rack for the shop  a bunch of wedding shelves and a sling attachment for the air soft piece.

Like any other shop tool some get more use than others .
