Vertical Cross Single
« on: July 11, 2016, 04:20:25 AM »
This is my almost finished Vertical Cross Single designed by Stewart Hart. The flywheel is temporary but may become permanent after painting. The base needs to be finished. Several "firsts" have been achieved with this engine: first post on here with pictures; first video; first conversion from metric to imperial - what fun !

Very nice! Seems to run quite well.

Did you take any pictures during the build.? They're always fun to look at, as well as being educational.

Very nice build and a neat mechanism. Well done!! :cartwheel:

And your pictures are well composed and exposed (!), the whole story in just a few pics but they tell the story very
completely. Well done !   :praise2:

Congratulations.

Hi Larry,

What a great build and I am just starting the build of the same model as part of the Trilogy having finished the horizontal just very recently and now almost finished through the paint and reassembly process.

Lovely action and a great video so looking forward to our build log to see if I can pick up any tips or issues you had on the way  :happyreader:.

Nice one Larry, well done.  A good runner but it do need a coat of paint to show your work off.   ;)

Thanks guys - your comments are greatly appreciated.
I will put up another picture / video when it is finished.

Stew-
The only painted part will be the flywheel. I like your floor tile & will try to do something similar. My next project is your grasshopper. I have built 2 grasshoppers in the past and love the action. I have completed the cylinder, valve chest & front / rear covers.

Flyboy Jim-
You asked about build pictures. Occasionally I make one for my own record. Here is my odd-ball set up for the top plate. My vise was stretched to capacity - it worked!

As we say up North that looks a "proper job"

She certainly runs well
