3 cylinder radial aero engine whats it worth??
« on: July 09, 2016, 03:21:14 PM »
Hi all,

a few weeks ago i saw a 3 cylinder radial engine on an old RC plane in my local junk/house clearance shop. I saw it is still there today does anyone have any idea on what this might be worth??

i recon it will need a bit of restoration to get it working but it looks in OK condition and must of been in the shop for a fair amount of time considering the dust on the plane! when i asked a few weeks ago i think he said the plane was £300 would this be a good deal?

cheers
loz

I really depends on what you are looking at - condition, displacement, vintage etc. Commercially, I know Saito made/makes 3-cyls, not sure of many other manufacturers, but possibly in the past? And there are also plans out there if maybe it was a model engineer build.

Hi Loz,
There is a company here in New Zealand that will build you a full size radial WW1 replica if you want one! The guy has figured out how to put electric start on it too. Mind you it will cost you a bit more than 300 quid!

As to what the one you are looking at.... Well no real idea but you do get a aircraft to go with it. Sounds like you might have to go have another look & see if you can get a close up & some idea of what the engine might be, it could be one of those that Jo has piling up in here lounge....eerrrr cast storage area.

My castings live in the Library (with Sexy and the Cowells) unless they are taken out for a fondle or to sit on the Dining table prior to the final transition into the workshop  :embarassed:

It would be a rather big model if it had one of our Anzani engines fitted to it
