Looks good, the photos are a bit big for me on dial up, I'll have a look on broadband when I'm at the library tomorrow.

Jim and Ian

Thanks for the compliments!!

There is a video of the unpainted engine on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-qWIcE_Bl5Y

I will hopefully make the video on Saturday when I have proper sunlight.

Albert, can you comment some on the painting....type of paint, applications process, etc. It turned out well and for many of us is or can be a problem area.

Hi Bill

With pleasure

The important part is to clean all surfaces first to be oil and grease free where I use Plascons silicon and oil remover which must dry for about an hour.

The next step is to prepare the surfaces.

The casing had a lot of uneven surfaces where I primed it first then added body putty and sanded it down. Then another coat of primer sanded with 600grit.

All other parts were painted also with 2 coats of primer with light sanding in between

I normally use what we call here 2K, base with hardner from Plascon.

I use the 1-1-2 mixture. (1 thinners 1 hardner and 2 parts of base color)

Before I start spraying I check the humidity. Even with the water trap if its more than 40% I had some water droplets on the finish on other engines before that can really ruin your work.

Then I apply up to 6 coats of paint, spraying about 10 minutes intervals.

This leaves a beautiful shiny finish. No polish is required.

Most important: the area must be well ventilated with no dust or flies.

All the above is experience I gained when I was still building model aeroplanes.

The final paint job must be left for about 4 days for the paint to cure properly before assembly, pending temprature.

I hope this helps

Wow! The flywheels are great! I mean really...there's few times you see so little wobble. It's like the rim is stationary.

Dave, zeeprogrammer, Admiral_dk and Don

Thanks all of your for the commends. Really appreciated.

Like always last night I did some final touches on settings etc and let it run for about an hour.

I decided to make a little video again and I managed to upload it.

See the vapor on the hopper. What is amazing here is that the engine does not get that hot. I can hold the muffler with my bear hands.

Enjoy

Albert, sorry for checking in so late; I have been on the road doing a 1:1 scale antique auto thing. The build looks wonderful, the paint is awesome, and it runs like a sewing machine   . I only hope to achieve close to this. Again, a great job.

Cletus

P.S. what color green is that?
