Elmer 33 mill engine and generator
« on: April 17, 2016, 03:38:00 PM »
Hi all.

A few pictures and a video of my recently finished double scale Elmer horizontal mill engine.

My dear wife assisted me in making a short video, it was a bit windy so the sound is not so good in a few places.

Very beautiful and well running model. Excellent detail.

I hope you have a plaque with your name on it somewhere. I hadn't noticed one. It deserves it.

I'd be interested in any information about that generator too.

Well made!

Hi Zee.

Thank you for the comment.  The plaque is designed abd coded, must only go on the CNC router.
The generator's build log and info can be found here http://madmodder.net/index.php/topic,11170.0.html

Cheers.

Exquisite execution! Everything looks perfect as a unit and a beautiful runner.
As Zee said, I'd also like more info on the generator and also the engraved steam chest cover.
 Elmer would be proud.
Best,
Stan

Hi Stan,

Thank you for the nice words.

The generator is of my own design and is based on the innards (field coil assem. armature and brush holders) from a old vacume cleaner.  It needs a DC supply for excitation.

The engraved cover was 3D modled in Turbocad and toolpaths generated in a CAM package.  The Machining was done on my home built CNC router.

Cheers.

Beautiful. You have built something that shows the full potential of Elmer's original engineering. I Really like the scale  as well.
