yesterday I was aligning my rotary table on mill, to rebuild the liner for my boll and I was getting crazy.
The RT is self made so no useful way to do this, only try and error.
I was thinking a way to keep at least a corner blocked, as a pivot and it comes to my mind this old instrument I read about in some very old american book.
I chucked a steel bar from a printer, that has a good finish and dimension on the O.D., drilled and parted two cylinder 15 mm in length.
I took a couple of bolt that was fine for my T-Nut and blocked the two cylinder on the table.
I have the aligned the two using a parallel and a precision square at beginning and then using a comparator.
At this point I simply pushed the RT toward the two cylinder and blocked the RT with his screw.
All the operation took me less than I spent trying to align her in my previous try & error, drilling and parting included.
Next time I have to align something I will definitivelly save big time.
