Band Sawing to a Layout .......
« on: April 05, 2016, 10:49:57 PM »
I came up with this simple trick that I've been doing for years. Makes sawing to a line much easier when doing work on a band saw. Most kerf widths vary between 1/16" and 3/32". Knowing what width your blade kerf is draw a parallel line to your layout. Sawing between the two lines is much easier and more accurate. The layout can usually be just " eye balled " and quickly done. Give it a try.

Its a good technique, I've been doing that recently when hacksawing or recip sawing out bar stock, definitely easier to eyeball between the two lines without drifting off one.

I'm working on a large cross section at the day job, that involves using the big Doall band saw and a diamond blade. I may give this a try to see if it improves my band saw driving skills. :lolb:

Thanks,
Dave
