Yes Willy, Saskatoon is the name of the city, named after the fruit-bearing tree know as the Saskatoon. It has traditionally grown wild across the Canadian prairies, but now with agricultural land being under more pressure, a lot of the wild bushes have disappeared and now there are a number of domestic farms where you can buy and/or pick the berries yourself. The berries are very sweet and much resemble blue berries. They make good pies and I use them to make some excellent wine. The history of this berry goes back to the Indians who used to dry and crush them and then mix with animal fat, then store it in leather pouches. The pouches were stored at cached locations where the Indians, when traveling knew the locations and stopped there for food.
