new toy :)
« on: April 02, 2016, 11:43:55 AM »
had an email a few days ago with this pic attached and the message of do you want it? its going in the skip!

I know very little about its condition other then it was bought a couple of years ago to replace a damaged machine where I used to work, was never put in place or powered up as they got the first machine repaired. and it had been sitting in the powerhouse ever since. I'm awaiting more photo's hopefully with some model numbers etc so that I can get a better measure of its weight and size but I don't think I can turn down the offer!

looks like I need to clear some space in my workshop! oh and work out how to get it from Hertfordshire up to Lowestoft.  then ill worry about powering it.

one day ill finish a project before starting another!

That would seem to be a real find at even a slightly higher price, Bertie! Enjoy it.

If you can fit it through the door of the workshop, it is never too big.

I used one in the early 70s, not a bad machine but no Bridgeport the quill feel on the one I used was not great. I think they are 30 int taper but it was a very long time ago.

Bertie,
You crank the table all the way one direction stick that end through the doorway crank the table all the way the other way and rotate it around. That's what I did with my Tormach. If you can get hold of a pallet jack even better. Sounds like a great deal.

The Bugs Bunny approach would be to cut a mill shaped hole in the wall.

Great opportunity to get a big machine, hope it works out!! Bit more than my sherline, just tucked it under one arm and walked it through the door. Big case of mill envy here!
