Hurricane Isaac
« on: August 27, 2012, 11:33:32 AM »
If averyone in the states is following the weather, you will notice that it is coming straight for Louisiana. So far I am on the west side of it ,but that can change by wednesday when it makes land fall. Bracing up for impact here.

Don't mess with it...I know it's not as bad as some that have come ashore ....but still....don't mess with it.

Stay Safe!

Don, hopefully it won't reach the Cat2 stage or if so will dissipate quickly once it hits land...there are so many models now its hard to know what or where it will hit, even those models vary widely. Stay safe and keep us posted ....same thoughts for all of you along the northern gulf coast. I can only hope that the news in this case will tend to be overly precautionary (in a good sense).

Thanks Dave and Bill, I have weathered many a storm and I do not take chances. Today I will be boarding up windows. But we do not plan on leaving just yet.  As long as we stay on the west side of it, the wind are not to bad, but we have to watch out for the tornados.

Thanks Carl, looks like it will not hit till Wednesday morning. A lot of rain is coming with this one. We are ready for it so far. The biggest concern is Tornados where we are in respect to the storm.

Well guys it has arrived and it is impact time. New Orleans is expected to get 20 inches of rain for the next 36 hours. We are west and catching the back side of the storm. It will be blowing all night and mostly all day tomorrow.

I hope you don't get any tornadoes.
I spent a lot of time in the midwest and I sure don't miss them.
Spent a lot of time in the basement.
No real tornadoes here...we'd call them dust devils...but a house without a basement is no house for me.

Thanks Dave and Carl, well it is here and sitting on us. The power went out at 4:00am this morning and the generator kicked in, still on it for now. The storm eye wall is heading our direction and the winds will be picking up once it gets here. All OK for now.

Thanks Bill we are OK, but people in plaquemine parish the levee broke and 44 people are on roof tops. Alot of rain has fallen and the storm is carrying a big surge of water. This is one of the biggest storm to hit the coast, it is as big as Texas. Thank God it is just a cat. 1 storm.

Don

We do not get those storms locally, but from what I can see on the TV it's no pleasure ride.

Keep safe.

Thanks Vince and Frazer, I believe the worst is over for us, but the whole Gulf Coast has had plenty of flooding. It has flooded where it has never flooded before. This Storm has carried plenty of water with it and is not finish by any means. We have a sea wall where I live and the Atchafalaya River is next door. So flooding can happen and almost did in 1973. The Corp of engineers built it taller and stronge since then.

Doing great Dave thanks, the winds have subsided and we still have rain. This storm is still sitting on usand flooding different parts of the state. All my families are OK and have no real damage. Thanks to all who have been concerned.

That is good news Don...hopefully in a couple of days the water will recede and things can start drying out. Thanks for keeping us posted.
