I've just achieved a significant milestone with this build in that I've just got it running on air

   :whoohoo:

Its runs a little lumpy because I only roughly centred the valves by eye and I had left some of the brackets lose so things should get better . I've still got to make the radius link to complete all the motion works but I'm very pleased that I've reached this important milestone.

A RUNNAH! That's a marvellous milestone, Stew!  :whoohoo:

It looks very, busy, with all the linkages moving in different directions.

Hope, you can persuade it to run forwards. Sometime soon......

Stew, that is so cool!  You should feel good about that!  Just love watching all that linkage go this-way-and-that!

Thanks for your support and encouragement chaps.

With a long term projects these important milestones help give your enthusiasm a boost. Once I have the last motion link made and after a little more tinkering, its going to be set aside whilst I get busy with a little short term project I have planned then I'm going to start on the tender, I have a part finished tender that I bought so I have a bit of a head start, once I have that finished it will be dusted off and a start made on finishing it off, but there is still a lot of work to be done on it.

Thanks again
Stew

Well I guess its about time I updated you on the progress of this project I'm sorry I've been a bit lacks in posting but I've had a few health issues:- I was diagnosed with prostrate cancer 12 months ago they told me it was curable, its was found by chance as I had no obvious symptoms, we had a friend diagnosed with it, and my wife persuaded me to attend a walk in screening session held locally just to get checked out. I was devastated by the news it really knocked me back. Needless to say our NHS has been absolutely fantastic and before long i found myself on hormone treatment, and I elected to be treated with Radio therapy that I completed at the end of February. I got over this treatment well and now have to wait 6 months for thing to settle down before testing to see how effective the treatment was so I'm keeping my fingers crosses, in the meantime I,m staying positive.

Any way to the project update, once I'd tested the running gear on air I then got stuck in on the tender and completed it last December this is it:-

And this is the progress with the Loco I've completed and fitted the smoke box smoke box door and chimney

I hope you can see the images I'm a little rusty posting

The tender's looking great Stew and the engine too, well up to your usual standard.
I hope your recovery from the prostate cancer is confirmed as complete, I'm about a year behind you on the same treatment path and just started on the hormones.
