A not so Stirling heli
« on: December 10, 2015, 01:53:23 AM »
Well I have to admit my build did not end that way I wanted. I should have known better as I have attempted 2 other stirrings engines only 1 will run if you want to call it running.  :facepalm2:  I started this build about a month age and got all the parts complete ready to run but it had diffrent ideas.
After some %#€£ words I made a change of direction with a little

I remade several parts to make it into an air engine using a slide valve modeled after elmers wobble engine less the wobble plate. It took some time on autocad to get the valve correct as I needed to image the valve a longer stroke to fit cylinder.  Well tonight I got her running  :cartwheel:
Here is a short video of it running

It's still a runner Dave, and should draw a lot of interest at the shows. Will be much easier to tend to as well, just hook up air and watch it go. I like it!!

Well all I can say Dave that's it's a runner no matter how you got it running. I am sure others will enjoy watching it running even if it's not a sterling. Nice job bud........I ....._like...........

Dave, nice one, you have things going round, and that's the idea. Stirling Engines can at times be stubborn about going, specially the first time, but once they are up and going they usually start without difficulty, first you have to get the b****y thing going.

Well she is ready for the show. I got the base done over the weekend and with a few tweaks done now she runs great.

Sorry I won't get to see it in person this year Dave. You always do such a nice job on your bases too. Very nice model and should be a real attention getter as well!!

Looks great Dave and wish I could see it myself and I am sure it will get plenty of attention. By the way did you make the bevel gears for it also?

Well,  it worked like a champ when I saw it running during Cabin Fever.  I looked at it several times.  Great job  !! I'll have to try and attempt one.
Never assume the implied task has been completed !!

Got to say it was a hit at the Show from kids to adults. I glad it ran as well as it did  :cartwheel:
