Pendleton, SC show for 2016 (it's back on now)

I received a notice from the organizer of last year's show over the weekend, announcing that the show this year is being cancelled. Though attendance was good last year (for a first show), apparently the cost of the venue as well as the increasing cost of insurance coverage even for these small one day events both went up and the numbers just didn't add up. Not the result I was hoping for but in today's world it's not that surprising either. This was likely the only show I was going to be able to attend this year since it is local (within a couple of hours drive), was just on a Saturday, and weather shouldn't be an issue either. I was also hoping it would become a foothold for a show in the southeast, but I fully understand the organizer can't continue to make up for the economic shortfall. I guess it's just a sign of the times....speaking of which, working in a university setting, someone saw and passed around the below link yesterday from George Will entitled "Goodbye to 2015, a year of absurdity and overreach," as published in The Washington Post. We can all only hope that 2016 will see some change for the better!!

Sadly it is the same challenge the world over 

Our GMES show used to cost us a lot of money to organise but our income was reducing so by scrimping and scraping we reduced out running costs to under £10K. If we are lucky we make a profit (about 3K = the same we would make if we ran 3 normal public running days), if it rains we just about break even. We had two years on a row when we didn't break even and the members were subsidising the public show before we cut back.

Good news...now the show is on again. Apparently a new venue has been found so for anyone in the area here are the details.

Show Date: March 5, 2016
Exhibitor set-up time : 7 AM
Location: Piedmont Presbyterian Church Gym
              4 Academy St.
              Piedmont, SC 29673

Limited tables are available so best to bring some with you as needed. If anyone needs more info. let me know and I will try to find out.

It looks to be right off I-85 Greg, closer to the interstate than Pendleton. Zee you can always retire down here as a southern gentleman, then it's only a 2 hour drive We even got indoor plumbing now

Several of us from the Atlanta area plan to be there. A compressor will be available to fill small tanks - no compressed air lines. Electricity will be available if you can bring a small compressor for your display.
