Don retires
« on: January 01, 2016, 08:46:25 PM »
Well all, as of today I am official retired. I have been working in the oilfield for 49 years and if everyone has noticed gas has been at an all time low. This is good for everyone not in the oil business, but for those in it a lot of them are losing their jobs and the New Year is not looking bright for them. This is one of the reasons I decided to take retirement. Even my business has seen losses. As much as I have loved my work for the past 49 years in the electrical and electronic field it is time to bow out.
So that means more shop time I hope. ........

Congratulations Don!

Do you think it will take long to get used to the 7 day weekend? I'm looking forward to seeing more great projects come from your shop.
I still have another 5 to 10 years to work depending on how things go.

Congratulations Don,   I hope you enjoy Monday mornings as much as I do! Although I find retirement doesn't seem to give me any more time, it is "different"" time with a lot more choice as to how you use it..    Enjoy                   Terry

The problem with retirement is that you don't get ant time off, nor holidays. If I had the chance to do it again I would take a GAP YEAR between working and retiring.

Retirement requires as much discipline as does working if you expect to get anything done! That's what I like about
my hobbies. I just can't wait to hit the shop and get going on the current project. Work wasn't usually that way.
Enjoy your retirement to the fullest, and congratulations!!!

Congratulations, Don!

I've been on my long holiday, for almost ten years now.  :old:

Working for a living, takes up a lot valuable time. I don't miss it, one bit.......  ;)

Enjoy!

Welcome to the club , however your brain does not retire and you also get a bus pass!! You also get more time to scheme out things rather than rush into the workshop, i call this necessary cafe culture time,
