A bit out of line
« on: December 30, 2015, 03:11:00 PM »
i have a few empty spaces in my drill bit index so, online to Enco for some of PTD's finest.
Prices are OK but Enco has a minimum quantity per size of 12 bits. Maybe if Cletus and Vern were totally ham-handed that would be useful but, the order for 4 different sizes climbs to over $125.
Enco's parent company, MSC, sells in quantity 1. A "bit" more per bit than Enco, but I'm not forced to buy a dozen.
Strange pricing structure from what is,in essence, the same company.
Rant ends.
Best,
Stan

It is strange Stan, but so is the $100 difference between the two same vendors on the Albrecht chucks you noted yesterday. Hard to figure out I agree.

The quantity 12 issue seems to be for the smaller sizes - probably due to the packaging Enco receives them in.  It's probably not cost effective for them to break open packages for small bit.

Vern, MSC35W is the code until Dec.31 for MSC.  Orders of $379 or more. Great chance to stock up on bar stock and what nots :stir:

Sorry fellas my IPhone is suffering technical difficulties  :lolb:. Stan,  it's 35% off and usually when I sign in they give a free shipping voucher, well, sometimes.  Bill,  I went over a half a million points during the holidays,  I'm shooting for a million;  always wanted to be a millionaire  :lolb: :lolb:. More OT, it's funny or sad or however you want to put it,  but,  it's strange  how MSC and Enco make you play the pricing game when they are both shipped from the same warehouse for the most part.
Stan, I was just looking over the books for Close Enuf Machine,  and if you figure our year end bonus,  it's gonna be really close if we have to buy a dozen bits :lolb: :lolb:

If it was two different vendors, I could understand the "don't break the package of 12." Knowing that it's really the same company, makes it questionable. In any case, 3 bits each in 4 sizes are ordered. This high finance is tiring. Cletus and I need a purchasing Dept.
Best,
Stan
