A woodworking gaget, Thicnesser
« on: February 14, 2016, 08:38:31 PM »
I thought I would show you a woodworking aid I have made for those of you that use a bit of timber in your models. I devised it after needing to plane small pieces of wood very accurately, which I found difficult. It does use some metal work and I used my milling machine to make sure everything was drilled straight. My second version has a fine height control and a backstop that runs in a dovetail groove. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MkKCu-kbGYo
Here is a video., Geoff

Well. There's another one to add to list....

Nice piece of kit, and a very nice shop. Thanks for posting it.

Geoff,

I admire your hand-plane thicknesser. It is an adjustable version of what the Japanese use to make shoji frames.

And thanks for the shop tour. I have a special appreciation for small, tidy workshops!

Beautiful shop!

I admire woodworkers. I know a real good one at work.
Dealing with material that has/had life and continues to change even when worked.
For me it's a whole different way of thinking when creating works.

Very nice, Geoff. There are times when something like that is just the thing.
