Daimler Horizontal Single Repair
« on: November 20, 2015, 03:40:59 AM »
I  took a brief detour from my Horizontal Twin project.  Sadly, this little Horizontal Single with the Daimler inspired cam quit working...

The brass cam disk wore down to where the cam follower locks up hard on the exhaust stroke.  Rather than make another cam disk out of something harder, I decided to convert it over to a standard geared cam.  Here is the new, secondary cam gear...

It is 26 teeth, 24dp, 1.167" OD, made of cast iron.  I used my CNC mill to shape the cam profile integral with the hub.  Here are some pictures of the engine with the gears and cam follower fitted...

The primary gear is 13 teeth, .0625" OD, made of 12L14 and pinned to the crankshaft.  I still have to make the push rod, then it'll be read for a test run.

So many projects, so little time...
