As far as model /engineer is concerned-I am neither!
I have bought a little Chester 7x14 ,an AMA cj12300 milling machine and have started on an aluminium 2A osci..I hope this will provide me with enough experience and courage to go onto a Hemmingway Hick osci next.
As my workshop takes up what used to be the dinette area on my narrowboat  things arent  progressing too quickly! The  2A though will be finished by Christmas easily..Had a lot of useful ideas from Keith Appleton(disclaimer) on youtube ..making a mandrel to place odd shaped cylinder in 4 jaw chuck..Im sure I ll be asking lots of daft questions later.I hope you enjoy them..ha ha.

Welcome, Johnathon. Had many a lunch in a pub on the canal/river(can't remember which) at Ely. My wife and I were married in Ely. (USAF stationed at Lakenheath. Wife has family in Isleham.
Enjoy the forum and the hobby. Look at some of the restored pumping engines in the area for inspiration when you need something to build.
Can't imagine a shop on a narrow boat! My shop is cosy at 8'x18'.

Jonathon, The Cutter sounds familiar. I remember there was a Antique Shop near by where the wife and I left several Quid! But that was about 10 years ago.

That'd be good, thanks; I'm embarrassed to say that in all the years I've lived in, or near, Cambridge I've never visited Stretham. :embarassed:
