My Workshop - Started
« on: November 01, 2015, 03:11:02 AM »
Hello!

Long time I try to start the assembly of a workshop to to put into practice my projects. Finally this is possible because now I have some space and a few days ago, arrived some new machines.

A lathe is the same german Optimum TU 2406 and here, in Brazil is AMBOSS 250-550.

The mill also is german Optimum BF 20 Vario and here is Manrod MR-222.

Soon I hope to post more picture about the progress of my workshop.

Cheers,

Alexandre

The BF20 is the same as the Grizzly G0704.
Many useful modifications here

Nice machines and a very nice and neat shop area Alexandre.  I especially like the floor and the bright walls.  What kind of lighting will you have?

Regards,
Rudy

Hi Guys !

Stan, a I saw the g0704.com website and after, I decided buy the BF20 mill machine... have things a lot to do with this machine!

So in reality this space I got is a room office in a building with 3 floors, in a commercial center (). After I can post more photos.

To lighting I use eight lamps of type T8 LED (picture below). I will post pictures too.

The lighting was very good!

Cheers,

Alexandre

Yes Alexandre......neon lighting provides abundant brightness which is good for the eyes and quality work, however do not forget the issue of neon electrical frequency which can make rotating elements appear stopped  :mischief:

Always use an incandescent lamp globe over the lathe & mill to eliminate this issue.......... Derek

I have incandescent lights over my lathe and have had for 30 years with no signs of the "lathe stopped" phenomenon. May be it is because I have always had twin lamps and if they are not synchronized then the effect will not be seen. Just saying.

Congratulations Alexandre,
Some nice equipment there, I'm sure you will have some fun getting used to making models with this gear. I have similar lighting in my converted garage, the difference is I have a couple of LED spot lights on my lathe & mill machine, these eliminate any 'Strobe' effect which is what I think you mean.

 Hi Guys,

I bought a vise, but I think that is too large ... it opens 200mm.

The problem is the weight, but to large parts is interesting. Maybe will be necessary buy a small vise to more practicity.

Cheers,

Alexandre

A smaller vice would be certainly be of more use day to day for most jobs , can you mount the big one lengthways on the table as mounted crossways the overhang looks like it impedes using the handwheel and seeing the dial in some positions.
