This message was circulated around the NEMS club today;
Quote
HI:
The prolonged rain and high wind preceding this Saturday and the forecast for Saturday has forced us to postpone Yankee Steam-Up until the 17th.
Later today I'll publish a check list of  actions necessary to communicate to all involved and what I have achieved. When you receive this, please review carefully to let me know of anything I missed.

Dave:
Please communicate this to all on our mailing list that have email including those who normally receive us postal mail.

Ron
Thanks for the heads-up.
I cancelled my reservation. I'm going to the American Precision Museum show in Vermont the weekend after the rescheduled date so I'm going to pass on the Steamup in Rhode Island until next year.
Best,
Stan

Thanks indeed, Ron. I was just hours away from starting the long trip east. It looked like the New England vacation was going to be a wet one, and then I started seeing hints that hurricane Joachin might be an issue during my stay.

I'll think about New England and the Yankee steam-up next year.

The Black Hills Model Engineering show is in Rapid City, South Dakota this weekend. I still have time to head north and west instead...

Anybody going?

I am still trying to talk myself into going to the Ohio show on the 17th. Its such a long way to go (850 miles) for a short show. I need to find something else to do along the way. I guess I could make it a final stop at grizzly in Muncie PA as they are closing the store.

Well I attended the Yankee Steam Up and forgot my camera! I'll have to ask one of the NEMES guys to post their video and pictures. Overall it was a great show with tons of model engines...air, gas, and steam. The museum also had some of the giant full size engines cranking away. The weather was cold and windy...but sunny.

I ran both my Ford plumbing engine and Half-Scale Quadricycle engine...and my 1929 Maytag which a lot of folks seemed to like. Every person that walked by did not know Maytag built washing machines with gas engines (neither did I until this past summer).

Oh well, I'll post a video and pics when I can.

Windsor VT next weekend!

Errol Groff, bless his heart, took a boatload of pictures.  I'm sure he won't mind if I pass along the URL so you can enjoy them too...

You beat me to it Marv! Thanks for posting this link. The show was great. Hopefully next year the weather will be a little warmer!
