It not hard to do compound indexing but you need to setup your dividing heard
Very low cost over a CNC dividing head and ever one can do in there shop
Most do not know that the most CNC dividing heads are only accurate to 20 sec or error of 0.000,14
The compound indexing on the worst one to lest than 0.6sec or error of lest than 0.000,005
The max division is 92,120 or 4.26 sec or using compound dividing with 49 and 47 plate on standard dividing plates

Compound indexing is, at best, a complex and confusing topic. Even the solutions in Machinery's Handbook must be used with forbearance. Solutions where the hole plate must be moved in the opposite direction to the crank are to be avoided if accuracy is to be maintained. Selecting which hole circles to use can also influence accuracy.
I wrote a program (not on my page) to analyze the process and put together a detailed write-up of the results. The write-up is rather lengthy to include here. If anyone would like a copy email (not PM) me and I'll forward a copy to you.
