centaur gas engine

Hi all ,
Query on the drawing of the push rod fork.I can't work out what the hatched area is ,it says section and is 1/4" wide across the fork.I can only think this might be a scraped section for oil retention on both sides adjacent to the cams.? Any suggestions will be appreciated.

It's just to save drawing the end view or a cross section. the part is cut from 5/8x 1/4 material.

Hi Jason,
Thank you, this realy had me baffled and also a friend who served his time in a toolroom was stumped.I am not an engineer but have been learning for over 40 years. What I love about our hobby is the wealth of information that is out there and is readily shared. Thanks again Jason.
