These were done using embroidery thread because it provided a much finer surface texture and was more to scale than string. I did not do any filling or sanding because that would have lost the texture of the thread on the outside of the pipe that I wanted to keep.

That's a fine result in every way mate it makes a nice change to see the finished result as when the castings leave us it is unusual to ever know how the build went unless a problem arises. As you mentioned the base plate could I offer one of our cast aluminium base for the double tandem which will be surface ground for all the mounting points just email me at sales@brunell.com if you want to go ahead, by the way no charge.
