The recent post by mklotz reminded me of a short little tome on the subject I have read many times and used a few times too.

It made me sad to see the thread closed due to whatever it was before I could locate the manuscript to share here.  100 years have passed and it is now public domain, so, without further ado...

That's the way I learned to locate holes over 50 years ago.  Today I can get nearly as accurate results a lot faster with the digital read out in my manual mill.
