Scott, what are you using for the ignition system? The S/S system or something else?

I'm using a Jerry Howell t.i.m.1 with a modelectric coil. I bought it a while ago for my Farm Boy project, and I thought it would work well for the Gade. I'm having problems getting the motor to run now. It fires a couple of times like it's ready to go, but it won't continue to run. I have been through the entire ignition system several times and spent the day making a new spark plug. The problem seems to be a very weak spark. I can barely see the spark at all. It has been frustrating, to say the least.
I just ordered an S and S cdi buzz coil. I hope that fixes it.

Here is the video. It took some fiddling, but now it runs great. The S and S ignition works perfectly.
I'm looking forward to showing it at Cabin Fever next month.

Hi Scott,

I am new to this forum and want to say you did a splendid job on your GADE Model C.  The video of it running is great and it will be an attention grabber wherever you display it.

I am the one who scaled down my original engine and Gary Martin made the excellent patterns.  I had to purchase an old house to get the engine.  It ran a small machine shop in the old carriage house behind and drove an overhead lineshaft.  There were no other machines left but this engine had been there a long time. It had never been out in the weather and the exhaust was piped through a hole in the brick wall.   I bought the house and property from a family who had lived there 80 years (in 1969) and the older brother (deceased) had run the shop. I was going to purchase it anyway but that engine sealed the deal.

I am glad you enjoyed building this engine.  I tried to write the plans so they could be easily understood and hopefully could be built as a beginners engine.

I will attach a picture of the original engine with a model so you can see the similarity.  Also an old ad for the Model C.

Thanks, Roland for your efforts and a great story too!
This was my first model engine from castings.
Thanks for the great castings and instructions.
I appreciate everyone's compliments. I hope to see some of you at the upcoming Cabin Fever show.

Nice looking engine, Scott...runs sweet too. I've always had a thing for ported engines. Curious about the wobble  on the governer side flywheel . May want to check the bearing cap on that side. The other side is running nice and true.

Boy, you guys sure have sharp eyes. :)
The wobble on the one side is because I bent the end of the crankshaft slightly when I was trying to start it with a cordless drill.
I had a rubber tire from a toy car in the drill and the motor backfired and jammed it between the flywheel and the base
I will fix it after Cabin Fever, because it runs so well now and I don't want to take a chance on breaking the crankshaft.

Hi Scott, that's a nice engine and a proper runner too. It's a pity that Cabin Fever takes place on the other side of the pound for me.
Kind Regards
Achim
