If I ever win the lotto I'm going to visit all the big shows in the US and UK. Until then I can only dream about it.

Reservations in place. Cabin Fever, then home to resupply, then NAMES.

Folks, I plan to go to both CF and NAMES this year. First time for CF. It will be about a 2 week trip for me as I'm coming up from Texas. I hope it's about 80 deg by then.

Since I'll be driving and pulling a trailer I was wondering if one of you local guys could help me with the roads. I am concerned about the rout between Harrisburg and Bellefonte.  Is this road a good one to travel on? is it hilly, it seems from the maps it's going across the "mountains"? I will be traveling from CF to Detroit. Any help will be appreciated.

It has been some time since I was set up at NAMES, I am hoping to go to CB and then back to NAMES. Maury, I 35 goes straight to Tx., If you want to drive to Desmoines first, your welcome to stop in. I have seen you at Portland, but am not sure what part of Tx. you live at.

The road from Harrisburg to I80 thru Bellefont is a long climb.
A better route (virtually identical mileage and time) is York, to PA Turnpike towards Pittsburgh. You'll intersect I80 near Youngstown, OH.  Not so much "up" , as the PA Turnpike has tunnels thru the mountains.
That's the route I'm taking.
Best,
Stan

Boy the year go's by fast!
Anyone that's going stop and say hi, I have never missed a show yet. It seems like only a few years ago my wife and I went to the first show, it was held at Dominoes farm over in An Arbor, and they only had a small room. I set up next to Paul Breisch , and Elmer Verburg sat right behind us. I have had the pleasure of meeting a lot of the guy's who started it all in this country. And it was a pleasure to know them. Every year I am humbled by the awesome work that shows up.
See you all there .

I missed NAMES #1 because I did not know about it, but I made #2 and every one since. I have also been to every CF. I will be doing both this year in one loop- its not worth going all the way back to Maine for just a couple days. I will be looking in on the TechShop in Detroit to review conditions for the CNC Workshop there  in June, and maybe another day at the Henry Ford.

I hope the snow is gone by then, but its only a month and 4 days until I will leave.

That is cool as heck. I had no idea shows like this existed until 2006 so I never had the pleasure of meeting most of the old timers. I got sucked in by Dale Detrich. It's all his fault!!

Maury,
I just saw your post, my in-laws live in Akron about 25 minutes from York. The route we have settled on to and from Wisconsin is 76 to Harrisburg to 283 (its a mumbo jumbo through Harrisburg) to 322-22 to I80 west. Any way you go across central Pennsylvania you are going to hit mountains. Cept for a few spots 322-22 is four lane, the hilliest part is near State College and comparatively that is a small section. There are no tunnels and it's a nice drive. PM me if you want more details.

So who all is going? is anybody going to set up a MEM area? I don't know yet which hotel I will be at, but we plan to leave Wisconsin Thursday evening stay at a hotel somewhere east of Chicago and arrive midday Friday. I am all for connecting a face with all the names!

After CF, I'm packing up the MEM banner and engines, then off to NAMES.
I'm planning on stopping in Adrian, MI to visit Oliver's birthplace. (For those who've never met Oliver, he's my Oliver Die Filer.)
Best,
Stan
