Oh and I got to work early this morning....they closed the plant yesterday.....I checked my email before I left.....spent 40 minutes driving there.....walked in and found out that 5 minutes after I left they closed the plant!     Well......I stayed anyway and got all my training done........might as well do something.

YES marv ....I thought of that!    If that shovel was on a pivot, I think it would work just as well pulling down as up....I was thinking a very light flat aluminum snow shovel and one or two of those roll up kids sleds....it would be light enough that I could put in on a long pole, and reach out on to the roof from one of my side roofs and not have to go up on the main roof...like 26' in the air...

Wear a Go-Pro so, as you're sliding into oblivion, we'll have good video of the descent.
Regards, Marv

Does anyone have any idea what "+ve temps" refer to?

I just want the snow to go away so I can get the Rivett into the shop.  Luckily we haven't had as much as other areas; but we have enough piled up to make moving the lathe impossible.  It's stayed cold, so nothing really melts.   I figure it won't be a go until sometime in mid March.

Think Spring.

Dave I feel for you buddy, but that snow remover video is cool.  Should work on shingle roof why not ,your not cutting the snow that low look at the video he still has at least 4 " left after it passes. I wouldn't use it on a lit snow.
So what is this +VE temps?

I made a deal for a 12" Clausing a couple of weeks ago and it doesn't look like it will be moving for a couple more weeks..maybe months the way things are going.

John-

Maybe we should start a support group- "Help, I bought a lathe and the snow prevents me from moving it."

Hi Dave

I also feel for you and all your NE comrades; we bitch when we get a few inches, I just can't imagine what it must be like.

Hang in there and stay warm.

Dave

I am sure Roger is meaning +ve as in over the melting point of ice = 0 degrees C and -ve = lower temperatures than water freezes at.

My memories of Switzerland at this time of year is that there can be large variations between the day temperatures (+20C) and night (-18C). But all that amazing melt water  I was not so fond of the humidity it caused during the day :(

Jo is indeed correct  :) I'm sorry for causing any confusion, but to me +ve and -ve are standard abbreviations for positive and negative. They are frequently used in electrical diagrams and documentation.
Best regards

Roger
