Building a Quorn tool grinder
« on: January 23, 2015, 12:00:18 AM »
i am attempting to build a Quorn tool and cutter grinder. Looks like a fun and challenging project involving some procedures that I have never done before. It's not an engine but then I won't have to deal with those pesky non sealing valves that always drive me crazy.

I will try to post updates as I get further into this project.

They look like very nice castings for a worthwhile project. I'll look forward to updates. Cheers, Hugh.

I will be following along with you. I do love this tool. By the way this thread belongs under Tools and machines.

Thanks for moving it to the correct place, as usual I guess that I didn't think it through completely when I originally posted it.

I purchased the castings along with the book and a complete set of drawings from Gary at Martin Model and Pattern Co.

The castings are very nice to machine, No hard spots and plenty of material to take off so that the parts finish up on size.

I had a little time to spend in the shop so I am trying to start with the base pieces and work my way up from there.

Nice little project you got going.
When you get finished with it I have a couple hundred pounds of inserts and end mills that need to be sharpened, just for practice you understand.
I'm impressed and wish I had something like that.
Good luck with your build.
