brass PMR # 1 drill engine
« on: December 31, 2014, 08:51:32 PM »
PMR made brass castings. I ended up with all but the cyl. PMR sent me a iron one because they no longer had brass kits. I put them together as my first engine build...

Nice Raym, my PMR #'s 2,3 and 5 are all bronze from back in the day, the #1 I am working on currently is a later vintage and  cast iron...I much prefer the bronze!!

Raym,

The #2 is their oscillating engine, the #3 is a smaller mill engine, and the #5 if the coke bottle engine. My only point was that I had purchased the casting kits back before they started using more cast iron for many of the parts. All of those now have some cast iron parts in them. The bronze machines so much better though and I am finding the CI castings on the #1 pretty rough by comparison. Maybe its a different foundry or something.
