Dear Santa
« on: December 23, 2014, 01:29:36 PM »
Dear Santa  :embarassed:

As you know we have all been very good this year and everyone has been making lots of lovely model engines. Now I am sure the others have been giving you long lists of tools and castings that they hope to find under the Xmas tree in two days time  ;)

I am  :noidea: trying to pretend that I don't know about those few little bits and bobs I have been looking after for you for the big day. If you go and ask the Workshop Gnome and he will tell you that  :-[ this year nothing which should be under the tree has been anywhere near the workshop on the run up to Xmas so please do not steal my mains electric like you did last year on the day before Xmas Eve :ShakeHead: I promise I will not have a little fondle of anything before hand.

So the question is what goodies are my friends hoping that you are going to bring them on Thursday :naughty:

A square and a hex collet block to save me having to reset the rotary table on its side every 5 minutes.

If he deems me to have really good a toblerone will not go amiss :)

Tom,
My Physiatrist (Ortho Specialist) instructed me to sit while working several years ago, and I do. I have a high drafting chair at the mills and at the lathes. I can't work without  them. Try it. It relieved severe back pain.

Brian, try a Hulseman Hesselbros 5 cylinder wobble plate engine  :D It has enough challenges in a carburated form without trying for the fuel injection as well  ::)

This is what I know so far:

5 cylinders 95mm bore 114mm stroke

4 litres

70 bhp at 2400 rpm

Compression 6-1

Thrust taken by bevel gear set.

Masked inlet valves for swirl

Valve operated by cam ring with internal gear

Cam ring runs at ¼ crankshaft speed

If the operating radius is 200 mm and the half stroke 57 mm the wobble angle is 16°. This matches the drawing.

Well Santa, I would like a little alarm bell for my lathe and mill/drill.  And if possible, could you add the device to it that will cause it to ring just before I am about to take an erroneous cut into my workpiece.  If you can give me my Christmas wish I'll be sure to reduce my frequency of  curses next year

Cheers,

I just want a new GF.

She must own a Bridgeport mill, a Hardinge toolroom lathe, a water jet cutter and 3-d metal printer. Ability to sew, cook and raise children favourably considered. Please send a photo of the Hardinge with an inspection report.

Hi all.
Since yesterday, only wish I have is more space.
You see I was visiting the local machine/hardwarestore yesterday just to wish them merry christmas. The boss showed up and take me to side and said he had something for me. ???. He showed me to the back of the store and pointed his finger on a pallet and said. If you like to have this its yours for free, show up after christmas with your van and I will load it up for you :praise2: :whoohoo:The pallett was loaded with messuringtools taps and dies and much more. So now you undestand why I need more space :facepalm2: I will provide pictures after the hollydays. Have a merry Christmas all of you.

Hi Ove.
Yes indeed it was a great gift. If you are in need for a unf/unc tap, send me a message. Mybee you are lucky :naughtyI I know there are some big unc taps on that palett. Likewise some smallish, if small is 1/8" :noidea:
I'm not sure what's on the bottom of the pallett but I spotted atleast five, or more, dial Indicators, a depthcaliper a big
, at least 300mm caliper a crankshaftindicator and much more. We will see when the new year is here.
Btw. How is the progress on the rad.engine ? Ove I wish you and your family a merry christmas.
Best...

Dear Santa if you are able please bring happiness and joy and lots of toys to all the poor children of the world. To all the afflicted please help them get better and grant them their wishes. To all the unhappy people bring them joy and understanding and Someone to share their joys and sorrows with. For me bring me more years of machining time and time with my family.  To all I wish you a Merry Christmas and a Joyful and Healthy New Year.
